Yazar : Antik Kitap
Devlet - Platon (Eflatun)
This is a collection of 3 stories about 3 different homes, and the lives and loves of the people in them, in New England during the mid to late 1800's. The best story was the first one, about a scheming widow who marries another widower, and sets in place a series of events that cause tragedy for the family. This story also featured my favorite character, the widow's daughter Lenora; a mischievous, trouble making girl who really had a good heart underneath; she was very entertaining and funny to read about. All 3 stories also had in them a "sickly" young woman, dying with what was probably tuberculosis. I am wondering if perhaps the author lost a sister of her own that way, and that is why it is a part of so many of her stories. The 2nd story was told in the first person, and the main characters first name was the same as the authors, so I have an idea that at least parts of that story were autobiographical. As with the first book I read of this author's, Lena Rivers, this wasn't great literature, but a pretty good and interesting read; all 3 stories kept my attention throughout and had some well written characters.
