I liked the switching between different characters to get different perspectives on the events. The magic system based on colour was great and that using too much magic drove you insane. However, the pacing seemed a little bit slow and the characters motivations were not totally understandable. It didn't totally ruin the book but I believe the second book will add more meat to the series.
