This is the "prequel" to "The Blue Sword" which I have never read, but might after this book. It's a fantasy story about Aerin, the rightful Queen of Damar and her adventures in her quest to fulfill her destiny and save her country. I don't think I would have picked up a book like this normally, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

For people who enjoy dream-like, modern-fantasy, stream of consciousness type writing, this is perfect. For me, not so much. I truly wanted to like this book, since so many people had told me how amazing it was. I found it odd and tiresome. The characters were interesting enough, but I had a hard time keeping up with them long enough to get a real idea of what was going on. Perhaps I'll try this book again one day, but for now, I'm just glad to be done with it.
