-Ursala K. Le Guin. Author: Metis Yayınları. Publisher: METİS YAYINLARI.

Chris Hedges was a war correspondent in some of the ugliest wars of the twentieth century, and this book is the product of his observations and research. He is fascinated by what makes us people who go to war, who do this awful thing, and who keep doing it. I read this years ago, but I think I may re-read it soon, because I recall his insight being absolutely fascinating.

Such a wonderfully inventive novel, but a bit of a first novel. Thursday looking at herself in the mirror, too much exposition, unnecessary characters. Especially disappointing is the gradual weakening of Acheron Hade's character. He is introduced in such a great manner, but by the end just sits around for months in Jane Eyre, which he was entered for really no reason at all. And even there he could have gone to India and taken over the subcontinent. Instead he chills out like a chump and then is wounded by characters who shouldn't have been able to hurt him. But I still love the world-building and sheer creativity. Super fun read for anyone of even a slightly literary bent.
