I loved this book, and was very happy to see that Max Brooks was able to translate his wonderful Zombie survival guide bits into a fully realized story. The story is told as a series of interviews with survivors. This structure, although not unique, is very well suited to this story. Character development is excellent, imagery is detailed, and many of the short stories in the book are quite gripping. The interview format creates a uniquely human tale. Many zombie films boil down to questions about the essence of human nature: what happens when strangers are forced to band together under horrific conditions in order to survive? This book certainly explores those ideas, but does so on a far more personal level. It's a fun book, and one that I'd recommend without reservation to any fan of genre fiction.

This is an excellent introduction to digital photography whether you have a cheap or expensive camera. EDIT: July 2007: After buying a new Dslr - Nikon D40, I am in the process of re-reading this book. I can indeed confirm my original review. This book is as relevant now as it was when it was first published. Even with all the progress in digital photography and lens technology the basic rules of "Taking a Picture" still apply. Tom Ang knows this and while the technicalities of photography are covered in this book, the main emphasis is on taking, composing and producing a good, pleasing shot. If you take any amount of photos, buy this book. Especially as its cheaply available in the bargain bin.
