This book is about a very complicated woman and her family dynamic. A wonderful story, and you end the book completely satisfied! However, the storyline takes bizarre twists and explores incest, which put a little damper on the enjoyment.

"Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith forever. Never shall I forget the nocturnal silence that deprived me for all eternity, of the desire to live." I read this book in high school and didn't make much of this statement. Reading it again yesterday it literally took my breath away. I knew it was true, not just talk. Faith and the desire to live.... to lose those things....

This book was recommended to me by a friend. For about the first third I thought, yeah, this is good, but not head-and-shoulders-above-the-rest good. Then it got head-and-shoulders-above-most-other-contemporary-poets good, really striking, beautiful images, a few images that really just sock you in the gut, really intelligent poems, beautifully crafted. Smart and quietly searing, they really conjure an atmosphere, their own world.

Sonunda biraz kıvrılır ve uzun bir doruk sonrası için bağlanmak için çok fazla gevşek uca sahiptir (binlerce gibi). Sonla birlikte, aynı ortamdaki diğer kitapların bir önyargı olması şaşırtıcı değildir. Yine de güzel bir kitap ve sanırım diğer birçok genç yetişkin edebiyatından çok daha iyi. Bazı fanatik Hıristiyanlar bunu bir film olarak protesto etmezlerse şaşıracağım.
